A Messge from the Historical Society
The Moreland Hills Historical Society was more visible in
2017 when we reached nearly 300 families at local festivals last fall. We
also were more visible with our capital campaign where we obtained additional
income, otherwise unrealized, to benefit the James A. Garfield Cabin. We
extend our appreciation to our members, family, friends, and private and
corporate donors for their generosity.
We are filling our cabin with guests in 2018! We are
fortunate enough to be included when the Civil War comes to Moreland
Hills! During the weekend of June 22-24, the Virginia Home Guard Militia is sponsoring the 2018 Road
to Gettysburg Reenactment at the Cleveland Metroparks Polo Field. We look
forward to sharing our local history as well as the James A. Garfield Birth
Site Park with this new group of visitors.
Also in 2018 we will
continue to open the cabin and provide personal tours to visitors weekly, on Saturdays, from June through September
and also by appointment.
This level of interest is amazing, however, it leaves our
small group scurrying for volunteers.
We are looking for guides for the cabin, active members,
leaders, digital media help, and crafters. If you have just 3 hours or
300 hours to spare, we have a place for you.
Our 2018 looks bright, and we are thankful. It is also not too late to become a member and show your
support that way. To join us and/or to
volunteer, please visit www.Mhhsohio.org
