Village Drainage

During the Months of May and June the Village sustained periods of heavy rain that tested the limits of the Village’s drainage infrastructure. During this time, the Service Department received many calls for assistance that ranged from flooded basements to flooded yards. Helmet Smart

Helmet Smart, a program created by AAA, encourages children to wear a helmet while riding their bicycles. To help encourage them further, Moreland Hills Police Officers will be issuing “Safety Citations” to children for wearing their helmets along with a “ticket” for a free cookie from Heinens.

Rubbish and Recycling

The Service Department would like to remind all residents to have their rubbish and recycling carts at the curb no later than 7:00a.m. on collection day. The Service Department has received many calls for missed collection at homes after the truck has collected in the resident’s neighborhood. The Village collects Rubbish and Recycling utilizing an automated collection system which allows for the collection process to move very quickly and efficiently. The route can be collected in approximately 4 hours if all residents have their cans out on time.

Point of Sale Inspection

The requirements of the Point of Sale Inspection were recently amended and will go into effect July 16, 2015. Along with determining compliance with residential smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector requirements, the Village Building Inspector will now also be required to determine that the property is in compliance with our Exterior Property Maintenance Code as well as ensuring that there are no safety hazards present.

Police Department Community Meeting

The first Police Community Meeting will be held in the new Community Building at the Village complex on Monday, August 3rd @ 6:30pm. Moreland Hills Police Officers will provide residents with updates on recent activity in the area and will discuss other pertinent topics, such as frauds and scams. This is also a great opportunity to come and get to know your Village Police Department.
 

Leaf Pickup

The Village continues to receive inquiries about a curbside leaf pick up program. At this time, we are still researching options and therefore there will not be a program in place this Fall. However, given the demand, we anticipate offering some sort of program in the Fall of 2016. We will keep you updated.
 

Green Tip

The biting insects that like to participate in all of our outdoor activities are back. We know what the ravenous little pests like; warm-blooded Humans and their pets, but what are some of the things that they don’t like?…

Harvey Schach

Former Moreland Hills Mayor, Harvey Schach, passed away suddenly on July 9th. He served as Mayor from 1972 to 1975. We are all saddened by this loss.
 

Cleveland Heart Walk

This year’s Cleveland Heart Walk will take place Saturday, September 26, 2015. The Village of Moreland Hills has agreed to participate by creating a team comprised of the Mayor, Department Heads, Staff, and Council Members, who have all agreed to collect a certain amount of donations to benefit the Cleveland Heart Association. If you would be interested in donating on behalf of our team, or for more information go to www.heart.org/clevelandwalk. Click “Find Company” on the right side of page and click on “Moreland Hills.” Let’s all try to do our part to help fight heart disease and stroke.
