James A. Garfield Cabin OPEN

The James A. Garfield Birth Site and replica cabin will open our doors for the 22nd season this June.

Join us June 4 at 10:00am and visit with Debbie Weinkamer who has been involved with the Garfield family story since 1998 and has done extensive research into their life and times. She is the Lead Volunteer at James A. Garfield National Historic Site in Mentor where she guides public tours, creates and presents programs and exhibits.  Having an Associate in Arts and a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education, Debbie strives to make her presentations engaging, meaningful, and educational for audiences of all ages.

We are looking for people with strong oral communication skills that have a warm personality to welcome guests to the JAG cabin and provide them with basic knowledge about the early years of the late President.  Our volunteer minimum time requirement is 3 hours.  Student volunteers under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
