Green Tip

Transportation accounts for 66% of U.S. oil use, mainly in the form of gasoline. Luckily, there are many ways to improve gas mileage, some of which are listed below. These tips and more at www.greendrivingusa.com can save up to $1,600 annually in fuel costs.

  • Keep tires properly inflated
  • Replace air filter
  • Use recommended oil and change regularly
  • Keep engine tuned
  • Drive sensibly (avoid quick starts, aggressive driving, hard braking)
  • Slow down (fuel economy decreases 1% for each mph over 55)
  • Clear out your car, extra weight reduces gas mileage
  • Reduce drag by removing roof racks when not in use
  • Avoid unnecessary idling
  • Combine trips whenever possible
  • Use overdrive and cruise control
