Ordinance 2022-32- Solar Panel Requirements
Council is considering Ordinance 2022-32 which will remove the conditional use requirement to install solar panels on their homes. Applicants will still be required to submit plans and other proper documentation to our Building Department for permit approval.
Since the original passing of this ordinance, certain requirements have been adopted into the Ohio Building Code for solar panels, which makes it unnecessary to have to receive approval from the Planning Commission. Our Building Official will review the submittals for solar panel installation and will approve them if they meet all the criteria set forth in our Codified Ordinances as well as in the Ohio Building Code.
Council heard this ordinance on first reading at the June 8 Council Meeting and referred it to the Planning Commission; the Planning Commission had a public hearing on July 11 and unanimously approved it and referred it back to Council. Council will be hearing this ordinance on second reading at the August 10 Council Meeting and will have a Public Hearing for this ordinance at the September 7 Council Meeting.
