State Route 87 to Close between SR 91 & Chagrin River Road
October 2, 2019
As you know there is a landslide on South Woodland Road (State Route 87) near Chagrin River Road that has begun to undermine the road. Engineers from the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) and the Village have agreed on a plan for a solution to the problem. They have designed a wall to stop the slide with the ultimate goal of protecting the road. ODOT bid out the job and will take the lead on the project. The lowest and best bidder was Marucci & Gaffney Excavating Company for a price of $1,484,306.35. The Village’s share so far for construction is $647,210 with funds from ODOT and a low interest loan from Ohio Public Works covering the remainder.
Construction on this project is scheduled to begin on Monday, November 4, 2019. The road will be closed to through traffic for the duration of the job. The contractor will maintain access at all times to the residential properties within the project area. The scheduled completion date is May 31, 2020 but is weather-dependent.
The official detour route is on state routes and is 91 South to 422 East to 306 North to 87 West. This detour route will be enforced for trucks and through traffic.
